Most parents will agree that raising a healthy child is a challenging task. From childcare to early education, much is expected from parents. Let Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy of First Colony in Sugarland help provide insight to parents on child care and early brain development.

    Distinguishing patterns

After the first year or two you will observe your child’s innate ability to identify, distinguish and utilize patterns for learning. These are most apparent when the child is learning a language, solving problems and enjoying procedural tasks, that adults take for granted. You can promote this development during daycare years by providing the child with examples that instill learning, and opportunities for practice. You can lead by example to help your child understand this process, so that he or she can start practicing and perfecting patterns and routines, during these early developmental years.

Your child’s brain is like a flower garden

Your child’s brain requires nurturing and nourishment in order to achieve healthy development and growth. At times it may even require pruning. At this stage, your child’s brain is still experiencing how to learn and what to learn, which tends to retain a lot of redundant and unnecessary information. During these times it will begin pruning information that is no longer necessary. Attending to your child’s brain, with care, will result in a great outcome.

Do not settle for any typical daycare or preschool environment. Rather, trust Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy of First Colony in Sugar Land, Texas to provide your infant with ample opportunities for effective brain development. Goals and objectives have always been the motivators behind success throughout history. We have learned from history that setting goals and acquiring rewards are the fundamental motivations behind almost every action we take. It therefore makes sense that you, as parents of toddlers or preschoolers, should consider utilizing similar motivating factors. These will help to ensure that your child is eager to learn, keen to achieve good results, and motivated to earn the deserved reward.

Join Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy of First Colony, Texas as we share more information on the topic of promoting learning in a child, through healthy rewards:

Toddler and Preschool child care: Small rewards

Small rewards are excellent, during child care, for keeping your child motivated even during mundane activities. These include driving long distances or even waiting after preschool to get picked up. A child will be motivated to have patience with the expectation of a small reward. Rather than providing exorbitant amounts of candy, try using healthy rewards, such as a simple walk to the park, or a visit to see the bunnies at the pet store.

Toddler and Preschool child care: Big rewards

You may also choose to reward your child with larger rewards such as a visit to Disney World, or a trip to the movies. These rewards can be almost anything that you and your child are interested in. The most important factor is motivating your child to not only succeed, but to excel.

If you’re looking for an excellent toddler or preschool child care environment where your child is motivated through healthy rewards, in order to achieve superior results, Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy of First Colony, Texas is ideal for you. We offer our exclusive Brain WavesTM curriculum that caters to each child as an individual, and ensures no child is ever left out of the fun and learning. sugar_land_tx_day_careToday, more emphasis is being placed on early childhood education. Numerous benefits have been seen as many preschoolers go on to attain better results at higher educational levels when preschool is made a priority. Here are some of the benefits of early childhood education:

    Cognitive development

A quality preschool education can significantly improve your child’s cognitive development. This is achieved through appropriate curricula geared toward developing cognitive skills at the appropriate age. The acquisition of new skills is made easier, since early childhood educators build on skills and knowledge that a child already possesses. Age-appropriate education has revolutionized the approach to early childhood education and has sparked an upturn in cognitive development for young children across the board.

    Social development

Your child will learn invaluable social skills in preschool, or in a day care environment that provides an varied foundational education program. By socializing children and helping them develop relationships with educators and other learners, children develop a stronger sense of security. Children who have been exposed to a consistent and sound foundational education are less likely to be aggressive when they become older. Instead, they will make use of their problem solving and language skills to resolve conflicts.

    Fine and gross motor skills

Your child’s fine and gross motor skills will develop more strongly and more quickly when attending a good preschool. Children develop these fine motor skills by using their hands and tools such as pencils, crayons, paint and tablets. Gross motor skills are developed on the playground where children play ball and other games, skip, climb, run and jump.

Studies show that the first few years of your child’s life are the most important when it comes to brain development. During the first three years your child’s brain rapidly forms connections between all the 100 billion brain cells it has from birth. These brain cells will connect to the right circuits as your child matures. Our comprehensive brain development program at Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy First Colonystimulates neural pathways to improve language and socio-emotional abilities in your child. We have compiled the following useful information about your child’s brain development.

Importance of ages zero to three years

Electrical and chemical activity in your child’s brain are translated with every touch, movement and emotion. These experiences play a major role in your child’s brain development. They will assist in shaping how he or she thinks and perceives his or her environment. The brain develops as millions of cells organize themselves into networks. A good diet, clean water, and exercise influence this development, as well as relationships with parents, peers and other family members.

A child needs to receive care, guidance and grow in a comfortable and safe environment in order to thrive, and improve brain development. When a child is neglected, not held or encouraged positively, it can affect brain development in a negative way. Experiences your child has at home and at day care can last a lifetime. They will influence how he or she communicates. A child’s intellect and self control all come from childhood experiences. It is never too late for a child to learn new skills and overcome fears, while improving brain development in the process.

For a new parent, bringing an infant home from the hospital can be both an overwhelming and an exciting time in your life. Our child care experts at Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy of First Colony offer some helpful tips on infant care to help parents make this transition easier.

Catch up on sleep whenever you can

Many parents underestimate the change in lifestyle that comes with an infant. One of the first and most important changes is that sleep becomes a luxury. An infant will sleep only a few hours at a time and then need to be fed, which means a new parent’s sleeping schedule will have to be completely re-designed in the short term to accommodate the infant’s needs. Talk with your partner, family, and friends about helping with the nighttime feedings so that you can have time to get sufficient rest. You cannot properly care for an infant when you are exhausted and sleep deprived.

    Do not suffer silently

Postnatal (also known as postpartum) depression is a very serious condition, and affects far more mothers than you may expect. If you feel that you may be suffering from postnatal depression, contact your doctor right away. You need to be sure you get the support you need in order to be able to care for your child properly as well as protect your own health.

    Understand your crying infant

Infants cry for a variety of reasons, and often crying is simply a part of development. Listen to what kind of cry your infant is making, and learn to distinguish which cry corresponds to which need. This can decrease frustration for both you and your baby.

    Accept help

Ask for help. Raising a child is difficult, and you will need help with shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry, child care, and more. Talk with your partner, family and friends who are able to support you. Do not be ashamed to ask for help when you need it; all new parents require extra support.

    Enjoy it

Finally, enjoy this time with your infant since he or she will grow quickly.

Our expert staff at Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy of First Colony, Texas, offers other helpful parenting advice here. If you would like to give your infant the best start in life, we offer specialized child care services that are superior to any typical day care center.

Enrolling your child in a daycare center is a great beginning towards your child’s education, but this does not mean that the teaching should stop at preschool. You can play educational games with your child at home. At Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy of First Colony we believe your child deserves the best education from a daycare provider, and that includes helping with family involvement. We have compiled a list of educational games that can keep your child’s mind busy during the weekend.

    Puzzles

Puzzles can be fun for the whole family. Puzzles come in different sizes, the smallest number of pieces being two. Allowing your child to assemble a puzzle helps him/her with cognitive skills. It encourages the child to use the mind to solve problems independently. The benefits of puzzles for your child are:

    • Aids your child with problem solving
    • Promotes eye/hand coordination
    • Strengthens motor skills development

Try to find puzzles your child will enjoy. Inquire as to what kind of puzzles are used at daycare, and try to find something similar.

    Counting Games

Preschools introduce math in a variety of ways. Investing in math games for home use will teach your child to count faster and better. Make sure to keep the games fun and exciting. Do not expect your child to be able to do everything perfectly, as he/she is still learning.

    Naming Games

There are many naming games available that your child will enjoy. They will teach him/her to name different objects inside or outside the house such as:

    • Animals
    • Fruits
    • Colors
    • Shapes

Keep your child’s mind working constantly, even when away from preschool. Always make sure to keep it fun and exciting.

Is your preschooler excited for 2014's summer camp? They should be! An amazing variety of activities and adventures have been planned for them by our dedicated team. Your child will look back on this year’s summer camp adventures with plenty of incredible memories. As a parent, you won’t just hear about their new friends and laugh at the funny jokes they tell, but you will also be amazed by what they learned, and the games they played. Furthermore, you will see a great change in your child’s development, as they will have acquired a wide range of new skills without even realizing it! One of the most vital of these new skillsets will be learning the value of teamwork, which is an asset your child will benefit from for life.

At the preschool age your child has incredible learning potential, and our camp will introduce them to new talents and abilities through group activities. These will include working as a team to complete physical or creative tasks, going on a group field trip to explore nature, or participating in a team sport. Such diverse activities will offer your child the opportunity to discover new talents, learn how to help others, and accept guidance from both our trained counselors, and more importantly, their peers.

These simple and fun team exercises build a healthy foundation for academic success and future career endeavors. They also demonstrate the value of working together to achieve a common goal that is greater than any single contribution. This growth can be continued after summer camp at great local venues where you and your child can explore together.

At Kids 'R' Kids Learning Academy of First Colony we place a particular emphasis on a well-rounded educational experience and we continue this during our 10-week, daily summer camp program. At Camp Nature Kids, all of our activities are designed to teach your child, have the best time of their young lives, discover their untapped talents, learn about teamwork, leadership and much more.
